A dog that had fallen into a nearly 4 meter deep pit was rescued by Animal Rescue Sofia activists in the late hours of 12.05. The dog fell in on the previous evening, people living nearby could hear it howl for long hours and weren’t able to get any help from the official authorities. There is no service in Bulgaria which responds to emergency calls regarding animals in distress.
The operation of getting the dog out was long and difficult, but successful. The dog was scared and disoriented and had to be sedated for the rescuer to be able to bring her up a steep, 4-meter high wall. The animal is now at the St.Antim veterinary clinic where she will be held for a day to evaluate if she suffered internal injury as the x-rays have shown no broken bones.
