Although there are 500 wonderful dogs in our shelter, every one of us has a dog that is truly special to them. For Nadia Stancheva, CEO of Animal Rescue Sofia that special dog is lovely Grima. Grima is now living in Nadia’s foster home and this is what Nadia tells us about her:
I am not sure what makes a dog special, how it gets under your skin from the moment you see it, how you and the dog being in the same place at this very moment makes total sense. I cannot explain why it happened with Grima either – she is nothing special; she even can go totally unnoticed. Unless you look her in the eyes and see the hidden promise “I will love you forever!” I fell under this spell.
I am sure Grima came in rushing into my heart from the moment I saw her – scared, cuddling with her blind babies, painfully skinny and suspicious of any human attention. That was last April. Grima has changed ever since, gained faith and trust in the humans around her, her babies grew up and got adopted. Grima stayed, never complaining, enjoying every bit of human attention we were able to provide her at the shelter, always happy when somebody approached her kennel.
Grima has been at my place for sever days now. She is relaxed and happy, sleeping in an armchair, waiting for her people.
I hope her people will show up one day and see her the way I see her and fall in love the way I did.
