20 days have passed after the surgery of the paralyzed one-eyed Rottweiler – Hammer. The surgery was successful, everything went as it was expected, except his recovery. His old age and weakness turned out to be a huge stumbling-block and the boy didn’t make it.
Despite the operation, the aftercare and all our efforts – we haven’t achieved the results we wanted. Because of his weakness, his feebleness, the long months of starvation – Hammer hasn’t managed to stand up.
2 days ago – Hammer had a second surgery. All thanks go to D-r Zlatinov, who performed the surgery pro bono. It is a completely innovative procedure. We don’t know how we will thank him. And now – Hammer is the only dog in Bulgaria who has a titanium plate in his spine.
If we look at the situation without prejudice – Hammer is supposed to be able to walk. But – after the unsuccessful attempt we are no longer so brave with the good prognosis. All we can say at this point is that this is the only chance to get the boy back on his feet again.
We thank D-r Zlatinov, The Central Veterinary Clinic, the donors who helped Hammer be treated initially. Now we must quietly wait for the titanium plate to work. Come on, Hammer! Come on, boy! Get up! Stand up!
