Spay/Neuter has begun!

It has now been a week since the clinic of Bogrov received the final permission for us to start to Spay&Neuter! And boy have we started!!! You can see a photo of our first tattoo on the ear of a dog to be returned to the street (the left ear is also v-marked). Our vet d-r Stankova now spends her whole days in the sergery while d-r Iva Nikolova continues to care for the health of all other inhabitants with the help of the two keepers – Vessy and Eli who are also vet technitians. Work never ends in Bogrov…

60 Dogs arrived from Seslavci

60 dogs have been transfered from Seslavci to Bogrov. Some of them  have spent years in there. Most know our keeper Vesi and the vet Marieta, because they have been caring for them for such a long time.  There are now 405 dogs in Bogrov. Of those 186 are puppies under 6 months old.

Juridical committee votes AGAINST incriminating animal cruelty

The two proposed texts for changes in the Penalty Code of Bulgaria for the incrimination of animal cruelty were voted against in the Parliament’s Juridical committee yesterday. There were 9 votes “pro” and 9 “against”. The texts will still be entered for a vote in the parliament with committee stating their disagreement.

DOGS TRUST training course

Members of our Animal Rescue Sofia team have been to the West London Harefield rehoming center of Dogs Trust for a one week trainig course on dog wellfare in shelters. It’s been an amazing experience, learning from people who’ve turned Dogs Trust into the biggest dog charity in the UK and are making the difference every day by running pilot projects and creating new methods of improving the wellbeing of dogs in distress.

Our fabulous Sangrea party

Nearly 1400E were collected today at the ARS Sangrea Party. Our warmest thanks to the 148 friends who joined us in this lovely Sunday afternoon and helped the dogs of Seslavci and Bogrov. It was a great event, we hope to see you soon again – the cakes and cookies you brought were simply amazing!
