Happy and loved in the hands of their new British owners are two of our Puppygarten babies – one-eyed angel Daddy and the little Norseman Buddy!
The kind, clever, joyful Daddy came to us already missing an eye when he was one month old. He and his siblings were dumped outside on a freezing February night. There was no one willing to foster them at least temporarily and it was out of the question to take them into the shelter without vaccinations. One of the keepers decided to give them a chance and took them to his home whilst they grew and developed an immunity to the most harmful diseases.
In the shelter Daddy and his brothers were excellent – gentle, good-hearted, clever and friendly. When it comes to Daddy – he took his eagerness to make friends to a whole other level. He was hopping in and out of the baby enclosures, developing a clever technique of climbing an upright wall. Thus, he spent his day visiting his friends and playing with them, returning to his enclosure for the evening feed. But don’t you think that he is an escape-wizard! Not a single time did he venture out of the cages – although it would be very easy for him to do with his newly-acquired skills. No, he would never do such a thing without permission, he is too much of an angel!
Having only one eye Daddy never got a second glance from the people who came to adopt. We are very grateful to our friends in the UK who have already helped blind Rex, Orlando, Yotzo, Misho and Meteora find loving families. Thanks to them, Daddy is already in his new (amazing) home where he is loved not despite, but because he is the sweetest one-eyed puppy in the world!
The other lucky new Britt is Buddy the baby. We called him “Kompis” which is the Swedish word for “friend” and this is just what he is to Mala, a rescued malamute mix he joined in the home of his new owner – Mick. Here is the new life of Buddy in pictures:
