Food, as you know, is always a welcome gift for the Farmers. We distribute huge quantities every day, and we have many different animals with different needs. So far we have always spoken about the need for good puppy kibble. Mainly because we are the shelter in Bulgaria that has most puppies. But also, we have many special need dogs, who also need special foods.
The wonderful Harry, clever Harry, obedient Harry has diabetes. This means he needs treatment on a daily basis. And he gets it, along with loads of love from us. But it also means that Harry needs special food that is rich in proteins and low in carbohydrates.
Eating foods with high carbs (regular foods) would push Harry’s insulin levels up, causing many problems and eventually leading to blindness. Special thanks to the special person who donated health for Harry in the form of canned and dry food. We continue to look for a home for this great dog, one that will give him the comfort and peace he needs.
Davka – a girl with a golden heart really
We always have dogs with skin-illness – mange. Not because it is highly infectious – it is not. But they take a long time to treat and are usually ill, because their immune systems have stopped defending them properly, especially when the illness has progressed.
Sancho and Pleshka love the fish oil
Special regards to our friends at e-dogshop.eu who sent us 2 bags of superb quality Essential food as well as 2 liters of precious salmon oil. We give it to the dogs with low immunity, hoping Omega 3 fatty acids in the fish oil will give them a boost. That is Suncho, Pleshka, Davka, our new American bulldog Sparta, also kind Nayden who suffered starvation and is slowly, but steadily making progress.

Besides special food, the shelter always needs simple food. Also, we can use freshly pressed olive oil to replace fish oil, honey or sugar to make bandages.
