This summer we told you about Martha – a volunteer who comes specially for our oldies. In short – Martha comes to the shelter every Saturday and brings a bucket of tasty home-made food for the dogs in our so-called Retirement home. Last week we had a lovely surprise from Martha – she brought a whole group of helping hands to the shelter, that not only brought a good amount of food for the babies, but also came in with plenty of cleaning tools. Ina few hours of good work the team made our Old Dog Nursery squeaky clean. We thank them all for the devotion!
Meanwhile, our huge (in size and heart) volunteer and adopter Itzo continues to make leads for our dogs from the rope that was donated by the Outsider store!
In a shelter with so many dogs it takes too long to put a collar and then a lead on a dog. So, we use choke-collars made of rope – they are both cheap and durable, they can be taken on and off quickly and a dog can hardly escape them if it got frightened or over-excited. The leads are made of alpine rope with a little hoop at the end. If you have left over hoops that we can use – you can always bring them to us.
Weekend dog-walking continues. Every Saturday and Sunday at our shelter the Senior Volunteers are there to organize the walks for the newer helpers. You are very welcome every weekend day from 11 – dog walking is a wonderful sport, you will see! Click HERE for details.
