A CRY FOR HELP: Gaby, Nina and Juan need you!

Edit, 8a.m. October 17

We have some good and some sad news: Gaby’s operation has been successful, she will be recovering at the shelter. Sadly, Nina’s poor heart didn’t make it and she passed away despite the treatment we started for her. It was all too much for her poor, young body. Rest in peace, you poor kid.

The funds for our three heroes have been raised! Thank you everyone for helping!
We will keep you informed about the development of the dogs. Meanwhile take a look at the dogs that inhabit our clinic at the moment HERE.

Dear friends,
as you know we have stopped taking in new cases at the moment, because our shelter is overcrowded. But, as a matter or a fact – the poor injured animals seem to somehow find their own way to us.

As you know – 3 days of every week our Spay&Neuter center works with animals brought to us by the Municipal company Ecobalance. These here three cases came to us as dogs for neutering, but as you can see – they are definitely not fit to be returned back to the street with their conditions.

Sadly, we do not have the funds to take care of them at the moment. Their only chance is to seek your compassion. Unfortunately for them, two of them are not glossy or cute, they are just three sad dogs you wouldn’t even notice on the street. The third used to be a lovely lion once, but is now a sad, painful shadow of the gorgeous dog he used to be.

We first got Gaby. At least we had the money to make an x-ray of her leg. She came to us to be neutered, but couldn’t step on her front paw. First we thought it was just dislocated, but when we touched it, she screamed in pain. The x-rays showed her leg was not only broken, but also needed an orthopedic surgery that we can’t perform ourselves.

What is worse – the surgery will cost 250BGN. 250BGN that we absolutely cannot take away from the 500 shelter dogs at the moment. What can we do? She sits and begs us for help and we are just as helpless as she is. Gaby is one of those babies that shiver with joy and anxiety whenever you look at them. She is always looking for contact with her wagging tail between her legs, carefully crouching as she comes to you for a quick hand-lick. Her expression always says “I’m so sorry to be causing trouble”…

Then came Juan. He is a male chow-chow, about 8 years old. He was found wandering close to the railroad station, confused, all in dirt and mats, very weak and with this strangely twisted front leg. He probably doesn’t have a rupture, but it looks like it needs help and is obviously in pain.

We can’t even afford the 50BGN he needs to be taken for x-rays at this moment. And it hurts. Is there any chance that this poor, dumped dog will get help for his damaged leg?

Finally, things became totally impossible when Nina arrived. Besides the terribly hurt leg – she also carries parvovirosis. Our vets are calculating that it will cost at least 140BGN to treat her, and that is the optimistic prognosis. Poor Nina. She doesn’t even know what money is, yet  the lack of it it can kill her.

And she is such a sweet small fool. From time to time she forgets that she is wounded and makes an enthusiastic play move. The pain comes back and she howls in sadness, shoving her face in the cage corner, thinking that she is punished for being happy…

To help these poor dogs we need 440BGN. There is no way that we can afford to treat them without your help at this moment. Can you help them? It is a lot of money, but there are many of us – we could give them the biggest present of all – a life fee of pain…

Donations for Gaby, Juan and Nina are being raised through PayPal, epay and by bank AT THIS LINK. Even if you are unable to help, the three poor animals thank you for your time and attention. It is certainly more than they are used to get.
