EDIT: 18.03.2013
Unfortunately, Glavka seems to not be sweet enough to find compassion in people. The funds for her full treatment have not been raised. We have ordered only 1 vile of the life-saving drug and continue to hope that someone would feel what a good dog she is and help…
A year and a half ago we asked for your help for 24 of our dogs that were then diagnosed with a disease that was not familiar to anyone in Bulgaria – heartworm. Worms in the hearts and lungs that slowly and steadily take away the life of their host. Some time later, the “doomed group” was joined by our Die Hard Bruce, who danced with a truck…
Thanks to your help, dear donors, today we are finally at the end of this battle. We will not be going into details – уou are already familiar with the horror of the treatment of Jack, Harley and Sibir.
The ones who didn’t make it
Now imagine this hell a few more times. A few times by a few times, because 5 of them are now stars in the sky. Our old German Shepherd Betty and Granddad Hlopcho passed away quietly, of old age. Patrick and Zax both had strokes – most likely caused by the hateful worms. Botunetz didn’t have the strength…
The healthy
We know this must be heavy news for you. So, we would like to remind you of Sibir, Jack, Carra, Bonka, Zorry – all are now healthy and in their new homes, enjoying life as they should.
Bella, Moritz and Rita are in their homes too, only in their cases – they were treated for Hertworm by their new owners.
And here is the rest of them – the now healthy heroes who await their new owners in good health, completely forgotten about the Worm Saga!
The two that can’t be treated
The two oldest among the ill dogs unfortunately cannot go into treatment. They have so many worms that it is actually more dangerous for them to be treated with Immiticide – the miracle drug that kills the dreadful parasites. We keep them on Ivermectine to stop the worms from multiplying, but we cannot kill them, because it would kill the doggies too… So, they will have their days at the Nurcery – however long or short they are, they will be loved and cared for by ourselves:
Bruce and Gergana
Or should we say BRUCE!!! And GERGANA!!! Their treatment is now finally OVER! We still need to make one final test to be 100% sure Gergana is safe, but a little more time must pass for it to be accurate.
But – Bruce is now officially 100% healthy! He had to be alone and immobilized because of the treatment, so he is now besides himself with joy that he can run around and play with everyone. Now, we are waiting for that special person to come along and take him home. We are sure Bruce didn’t go through so much hardship just to be stuck in the shelter, his luck is just around the corner!
The last Mohican
So, did you count them all? If yes – then you already know that we are one dog short. And that is our sweet, kind Glavka. Poor girl was the last one in the list – she is big and heavy, so she needs a total of 6 vials of the expencive drug. Now, when she is the last one to need Immiticide, the time came for us to make our calculations with an anxious worry. It is too much, we can’t make it by ourselves.
Glavka, despite her stupid name (it’s d-r Stankova’s fault) is one absolutely wonderful dog. She is happy and content – a small touch, a short walk, or just a glance in her direction is enough to make her smile. Glavka is a dog that will wave her tail at you even if you kick her. She sees no evil, she hears no evil, she knows no evil. We hope so strongly that we could show her the nice side of life one day. A life where she will be healthy, she will have a home and people to love…
Help us win this battle
If you have any possibility, please – help us help Glavka. We have 2 vials of Immiticide left from the last dogs we treated. Now Glavka needs 600BGN (300E) more to be free of those bloody worms in her heart.
Yes, it is a lot of money, but then – there are so many of us. So many good dogs have already been treated successfully – let us not leave poor Glavka ill and hopeless only because she was unlucky to be born in a huge, unattractive body.
Please, if you can – help, even by very little. You can donate via PayPal, ePay or by bank AT THIS LINK. From all the dogs that are now healthy and happy – a big hug to you. They all hope that you will be able to save good Glavka like you saved them…
