32 happy babies, 1 shepherd and 2 kitties have started their lives anew!

Off to happiness! Journeys abroad are incredibly hard to organize and quite expensive, but they ensure such a great happiness for the most unfortunate souls in this city, that they are worth it, even if it was 10 times harder.  We are glad to introduce you to a happy bunch of doggies that sailed off to Holland, stopping only in Austria to unload two lucky kitties.

Rex-05.03.2012

At the head of our shiny group of babies, every last one of them dumped from people’s yards (there wasn’t a single dog on this transport that was born in the street) is Rex – the only adult among them. Rex is a purebred German Shepherd whose owners gave him up at the shelter. Thanks to his good looks and kind heart, he quickly found his loving family in Holland.

Next come the babies. There is nothing to tell about their history – you can see for yourself what sweet mice they are and picture their future outside would be if it wasn’t for your kind help, dear friends.

A first-grader question for you – how many of these 9 stray-looking babies do you think would be adopted if it wasn’t for this amazing opportunity to go to Holland?

This little baby would probably have a far greater chance to be adopted, but it would also be in a much bigger risk to fall into the hands of the wrong people – this is a huge problem for pit-bulls and all bull-type dogs in general. Sadly, the problem will continue to expand with the uncontrolled breeding that goes on – for a chained or fighting life, for money or for fake self-esteem. And these are serious dogs, they are not suitable for everyone, they need special care and very early socialization. No need to worry about Baby anymore – she is in the right hands, the little thing!

A Borther and a Sister – they didn’t even have names when they were back here. The two were adopted in two excellent Dutch families, both with kids. People who think “friend” instead of “mutt” when they see these little sad faces.

These little Dutch Bulgarians are brother and sister too, perhaps more likely to grow up as ponies, than dogs! We wish them great happiness in their new motherland, frequent walks in green fields, freedom, love and care!

These boys come from the “sausage litter” – a really wonderful bunch of sweet, fun, lively puppies. (No need to tell where they come from and who dumped them, right?) In general – small yard dogs are a rare sight, most are huge dogs, so these lucky sweethearts found their people rather quickly.

Four tiny little girls. Of the kind we are used to see near the trash-bins. Not this time! These little princesses will never be hungry, cold and lonely!

One of our bigger boys – just at the age where “hopefull puppies” turn into “hopeless adults”. We are so glad he was lucky and left us for good!

Four more babies. Sandy Kara, white-socked Konnie and the brown little ball are all girls. And the funny little guy with the huge ears is a boy. No doubt about it – their destiny would be a tragic one if it wasn’t for this amazing stroke of luck – to be able to go to Holland, where kind people have already taken them home…

Our most favorite, our sweet Marrie! She came to the shelter limping, thin and mangy, but incredibly sweet and friendly. We managed to quickly get her to better health, so she didn’t miss this opportunity to sail off to happiness as a baby. We think the Dutch people who adopted her are lucky – she is a really dear little girl! You can see her “before/after” photos here.

There is only one thing that can be worse than being a black homeless dog. And that is being a black dog in a shelter. This means that you automatically become invisible when adopters come. How unfair! And what is more – it is scientifically proven that there is a co-relation between color and temperament and black dogs are generally more balanced animals.

These two little girls, sweet sisters from the shelter’s puppygarten have been given the opportunity to prove this fact to the people of Holland in many happy years to come!

Two more sisters – you will find angels like this in every second village yard. But please, don’t tell that to their new families – they are convinced they have the most unique, most beautiful and smart dogs in the world!

Ta-ta-da-daa! Have you ever, ever seen faces so sweet and heart-melting? They are a sister and a brother – very delicate and even a bit frightened in this photo, the two were fast to relax and enjoy their new environment once they reached Holland! Life outside the cage is a whole other thing!

mina rudy austria

Along with these hooligans we had 2 sweet kitties leave – lovely Mina and the black hooligan Rudy quickly found their new Austrian homes! And no wonder – they are botг so sweet and cuddly!

Huge thanks to:

  • Our colleagues who have been giving eternal happiness to our unwanted friends;
  • The volunteers and foster carers whose efforts have helped turned these babies into happy pups instead of timid wildlings;
  • The boys driving the bus – well done once more;
  • And most of all – our donors who make all these miracles possible!
