21 Dutch and German citizens report

With a delay again (we hope you will excuse the lag – the good information service has been somewhat sacrificed in order to speed-up the Farm renovation process) we introduce you to yet another “dose” of lucky souls to have departed for a new happiness! These new Dutch and German folk have all settled in with their new families and we even have some of them sending us letters from their lovely new lives. And now, let us report about these happy boys and girls, starting as always with the oldest and the first on our road – the Germans.

This is granny Chanelle  – this is the name she came with, brought by the municipal catchers after her owners said they do not want her anymore. As many of the cocker-spaniels that have been on this route she too was scared of strangers, reacted fearfully and with shivering to any human contact, always expecting the worst. With some patience and a solid amount of treats and canned food, Chanelle finally realized – people are not all bad and we became good friends. In Germany, she was found fosters by Renate and Karin – friends of our cats who could not believe it has been so long in waiting for Chanelle. Farewell!

Four more dogs who were definitely not the typical “easy-to-rehome” case, so they make us especially happy:

Uti – now, have we LOVED this dog! We took him from the Seslavtzi pound already an old boy, it was back in 2010. Big, brown and old (although he played with the volunteers like a little puppy), Uti was not wanted anywhere despite our efforts. Both him and the boy below have had their lives changed by the amazing Ute Andok.

And here is Oleg – of the four he is the only one to not wait at least a year in the shelter. If you remember – we picked him up in the street after he was dumped ill and starved. We weren’t very sure if we were ever to rehome him – because of his size and age, not that he has a fault. The two old giants lived together when we had them, so we were especially pleased when Ute decided to take them both together until adopters are found.

Petya, it has been over 2 years in the shelter for her. We took her off the Botevgradsko shoes with a broken leg and pelvis, a very smart, playful and loving dog.

Villy – a spoiled girl indeed. She was brought to us by the municipal catchers with many new-bourns. The babies have all found homes, but she remained in the shelter for another year and a half – mainly because she is of the same size and color as Petya.

And here follow the new Dutch – they are mostly puppies, hope you are not angry, but they never had any names. The last months at Bogrov were very difficult and we kind of skipped the fun part.

These heroes were dumped in front of the US embassy – they are all now home.

These here sweeties were found dumped in the middle of nowhere, on the road between two villages – surely left there by a “compassionate” owner of the mother.  Green-eyed and with a rare color, it is more than obvious that they are a home-bred litter. But that also gave them a good chance to be chosen for adoption and they all went off to Holland where they found their new happiness.

Another bunch of babies, only this time they were dumped near the shelter. Among them – the famous Suzie, our TV-star (she is the one standing up by the dog-house).

These two angels were the last puppies of mommy Zlatina to be rehomed. They left along with a black little girl who was dumped at the shelter a while ago.

Esprit too became a Dutch girl. She is the last of three sisters that we took on after kind people had taken care of their vaccinations. She had people waiting for her back in November, but managed to get a cough shortly before her departure, so she had to stay behind. She is no longer coughing. Just sighing with relief.

And finally – two heroes that turned out to be rather complicated for re-homing. Mermite and Yana – the Dobermans. Just as it had happened with Ike and Tara – the boxers earlier – there were many candidates for young Yana and none for the older boy Mermite. Since it was most important to keep these lovely souls together, we waited and wandered until finally a chance to be adopted together came up in Holland and the two heroes left us – never to be parted from one another!

Such was this transport – a transport that sent many happy pups away from their homeland, we still have more lucky souls to tell you about. Thank you for giving them a chance, dear friends. It is your help that is making this possible.
