ANIMALS RESCUE SOFIA

WELCOME TO OUR FARM

ABOUT OUR FARM

Since January 2014, with the crucial help of thousands of wonderful people, Animal Rescue Sofia has found its place - Shelter "Ferma"! When we complete the renovation and registration, Ferma will be the first and only fully non-governmental dog shelter in our city. Animal Rescue Sofia is no longer associated with Bogrov Shelter. Turning Ferma into a true shelter for homeless animals will take several months - the work is extensive. The larger building on the 6-acre site will become a home for around 200 dogs. The smaller building will house the Franziska Clinic - the place where we will treat, spay/neuter, and quarantine newly admitted cats and dogs. There are also numerous tasks related to sewage, electrical network, insulation, roofs, etc. Volunteers are more than welcome - if you want to join with your work or materials in the renovation process, JOIN US HERE. Important clarification: although we do not accept new animals until the shelter obtains its permits, we currently have 250 dogs. They are waiting for their adopters and would be delighted to meet you during our weekend walks!

HOW TO ADOPT A FRIEND FROM "THE FARM"?

Adoption is free of charge. Each dog from the shelter goes home:

  • Vaccinated
  • Microchipped
  • With a European passport
  • Spayed/Neutered

The adoption procedure is logical and meaningful – there’s nothing to be afraid of. Candidates are required to have 2 visits to the shelter to get to know the dog. During the first visit, an interview is conducted – is the person aware of the responsibilities, what type of dog suits their lifestyle, etc. On the second visit, an adoption contract is signed, and the dog can go to its new home.

Please CONTACT US if you have any questions. You can see a portion (but far from all) of our wonderful dogs HERE. However, it’s best to come and see all our good “children” in person rather than just through photos.

How to Help the Franziska Clinic?

After registration, Ferma will proudly feature a clinic named “Franziska.” It will be named in memory of a special individual and in honor of the saint, the patron of people and animals – St. Francis of Assisi. The clinic is in need of assistance and welcomes all kinds of donations – humane and veterinary medicines, materials, new and used equipment, and more. Please take a look at our List of Essentials if you wish to get involved. Your help will save lives.
