Vier Pfoten and Animal Rescue Sofia offer 1000 BGN for information on Jessy’s murder

Posted on 05 September 2010

Vier Pfoten and Animal Rescue Sofia offer a 1000lv reward for credible informaion leading to the killer of Jessy – the puppy that was skinned alive in Bogrov shelter on August 28. The reward will only be given to someone who is willing to testify infornt of the police and court.

We are absolutely determined that cases of such horrid cruelty are occuring so often because of the lack of any consequence for animal offenders. While cruelty to animals remains unpunishdble in Bulgaria we will continue to witness and suffer many more acts as arrogant and sadistic as the brutal killing of 3-month old Jessy who was skinned alive on the shelter ground, her head and skin left behind as a message to all animal wellfare organizations and friends.

Information can be received on the Vier Pfoten and Animal Rescue Sofia e-mails: and, as well as phone number (+359 2) 953 17 84.

Supporters and friends are urged to print out our “WANTED: Your neighbour” poster.

More publicity on the murder in Bogrov

Posted on 01 September 2010

The horrid story of Jessy is now known to many – some are shocked, others unfortunately comment with unbeleivable negativity: “why one by one, we should kill them all at once” or “they killed her themselves to gain popularity”. We hope the savage murder of Jessy will show once more the need to change the Penalty Code to criminalize cruelty to animals.

Police officer Bodurov from Police district №5 is investigating Jessy’s cruel murder.

We thank the many people who gave their support to Animal Rescue Sofia.

Horrible crime in shelter Bogrov

Posted on 28 August 2010

Early morning on 28.08 one of our puppies – little Jessy who was ment to go to her new family this very day, was found brutally murdered and skinned at the shelter ground. What reamined of her was put out as some sick sort of a demonstation on the shelter premises – WARNINGgraphic IMAGE.

We have immedeately alerted the police and will follow the investigation closely. Information of this vile, cruel act has been aired on Nova TV, bTV, Pro-BG, BBT,, 24 chasa, Standart and CNN.

Animal Rescue Sofia and Vier Pfoten offer a 1000 lv reward to anyone who can offer sustainable information and is willing to testify for the police and in the court on the brutal murder of Jessy. This is yet another horrid animal cruelty case that shows the urgent need of changing the penalty code to incriminate cruelty to animals. What is most worrying is the demonstrative and arrogant setting of the scene of the crime. With the current laws and Penalty code the criminal may be charged as little as an administrative tax of up to no more than 500 lv (the equivalent of 250E).

Volunteers and staff of Animal Rescue Sofia have taken up a night watch at the shelter untill the matter is settled with the municipality.

Please, support our efforts in not lerring this horrid crime remain unpunished. The Bulgarian Penalty code must be changed to include acts of cruelty towards animals as a crime.

Please note, violent comments will be removed from our blog immedeately. We understand your concerns and resentment, but do not support violence in any shape or form. The police has been alerted of the comment, posted in our blog at the night of the incident stating dogs were very tasty and giving ideas on dog-skinning. We understand you are upset, but kindly ask you to keep a cool mind and show that friends of animals are different and well-organized. All our energy should go into pointing out once more changes in the Penalty code must be made. Thank you for your support.

ARSofia in

Posted on 23 August 2010 made a report about our lucky pack’s departure to Austria and the Netherlands!  Warm regards,  although it’s so sad to see this many people comment negatively on the fact that homeless animals are being found homes. “All homeless mongrels should be put to sleep”, “Help people, not beasts” and many more agressive and abusive comments show once more that people lack information and understanding of the stray dog problem.

To continue the story enjoy the following lovely photos of the bus’ arrival in Amsterdam: Continue Reading
