Dear freinds,

Animal Rescue Sofia was invited to take over the management of the Bogrov municipal shelter, which is a brand new facility.

This is what the large “dog building” looks like from the outside. It will house the big dogs. The facility has the permission to place up to 500 dogs in there, although we have negotiated to keep that number as low as 350. From those, approximately 300 adult dogs will be occupying the 21 cages of the larger building, and the unvaccinated puppies and their mothers will be placed in the quarantine cells in “our” smaller administrative building.

And this is “The clinic” building, which we will use for surgeries, housing of the puppies, storage, etc… In there we will have a surgery rooms for our own Spay&Neuter&Return program, rooms for treatment and rehabilitation of dogs, etc. We will reconstruct the quarantine cells so they are really quarantine.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As you see the place is empty. And the dogs will start arriving soon – with or without us being there. Please, help us make this place look as it should be, not as it can be…

We have negotiated that the municipality will provide us with:

• rent free terrain & building,
• covered bills for elecity and water,
• included security of the facility,
• 1 keeper on a paid position,
• Rabies vaccines for all dogs

From then on we must provide everythinng else we need to run the facility:

- STAFF:

• A vet
• A veterinary technitian
• 3 keepers

- full MEDICAL equipment – SEE THE LIST

- full HOUSING equipment:

• bedding: plastic beds, blankets, towels
• feeding: plastic & metal bowls, food storage containers
• cleaning items: buckets, hoses, mops, scrubs
• dog-houses: wooden and plastic
• dog crates: plastic and metal

- full FURNITING of the facillity:

• bathing things for dogs:  shower hose,  medical shampoos, towels
• clipping things for dogs: scissors, clipper + blades
• metal dog wall penns – for the surgery reanimation and follow-up procedures

- MACHINERY

• washing machine
• drying machine
• refridgerator
• sterilizator
• microchip reader
• tattoing machine
  

- FOOD and supplements

• dry food – in any package or variety – NB
• puppy food – for the youngest who will start arriving immediately
• canned food – not a necessary item, but anything is helpful for us
• supplements - vitamine, Omega & digestion

NB!

WE HAVE OUR OWN TRUCK that can carry up to 1,5 tonnes

What we’ve been doing until now is that we send dogs with the truck to a destination where they will be placed in a shelter or with foster families and the truck travels back with what our friends abroad have managed to gather – food, crates and other items.

We can travel to collect items from the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and other countries in the EU, hopefully with a load of dogs on our way there.

Of course, this journey also costs money, but it is cheaper than shipping with any postal or currier survice we’ve found until now. If you are willing to help us with some gasoline money as well – we have an unlimited ammount of hugs to give in return.
