How we started

Posted on 27 June 2010 в Bogrov Newsflash

As you may know Animal Rescue Sofia has been working for years now to improve the living conditions of the animals living in the municipal shelter of Seslavci. In the beginning of 2010, after 2 years of work in Seslavci, we were invited by the Sofia Municipality to manage the largest shelter and castration centre in Bulgaria – the shelter of Bogrov.

After weeks of debate and thought in our team having in mind the scale and hardship that such a project would require – we agreed. Leaving aside all the difficulty in administrating, finding funds that are necessary for the medical upkeep and food for the animals – we would face hard and intensive work, a lot of heartbreak and happiness altogether…

We agreed to take on Bogrov knowing that it would require immense work, funding and nerve wreck, because we are ready to do anything to prevent Bogrov turning into yet another dog concentration camp. To create a place where many dogs’ stories start, not end.

Today, more than ever, we need your support. So that Bogrov can be a place of example for the municipality of Sofia. An example showing that the dogs need to be looked after by those who love them, who truly care.
