Maya’s own spot by the fireplace and her newfoundland friends

Last week young Maya sent this letter to Santa:

Dear Santa,

my name is Maya and I am 1 year old. I live in the Bogrov shelter, where my mommy was brought after we were trewn out on the street by Mommy’s master.

You may remember my mommy. Her name was Leontina. Or you may remember my dwarf brother Willow. They are both now far away, warm and loved in their homes… In fact, it is only me left here from all my family. Mommy, my brothers and sisters – they all have homes, even poor little ill Willow…

I’ve been alone for many months and had the time to think about it hard – why is it that they all found love and I didn’t. I have come to the conclusion it is because I am ugly.

Mybe I am so ugly that noone will ever want me… Please, Santa, make me beautiful this Christmas!

Make me so beautiful that the next time someone comes to the shelter they see me and say: “Wow! What a wonderful dog Maya is! I’m taking her home.”

Please, please, please, Santa, help me get out of here. I don’t want to live alone. I have too much love to give.

What followed was a dream come true:

On the next day we got visitors. Very special visitors, a mother and a daughter, two ladies with big hearts, looking for a particular dog among the 500 little prisoners at the Bogrov shelter.

“Oh! – said the mother – what a wonderful dog Maya is! I’m taking her home.”

At first Maya couldn’t grasp the greatness of it. She would run up to the people for a hug and then run back to Vessy with disbeleif. “Is it true? Do you really want me?”, she was saying with her big eyes.

“Yes, Maya, we’re taking you home”…

“Home? Home?? HOME!”

And home is where they went. Thanks to Rumyana Raynova and her amazing family Maya has a HOME. And what an amazing home it is! Maya found many new dog and cat friends. She has her own couch by the fireplace, a huge yard to run about, but most of all, kind and caring people to LOVE with every beat of her heart.
